I am sorry to hear that it is so bad.

Sounds like it is time for some two wheeled therapy.

But on the bright side, think of all that sweet, sweet insurance money you’ll collect. That you’ll have to give to the EPA for all the gasoline leaking out into the river...

Seriously though, hope everything is ok. You’ll weather the storm.

Don’t worry.

I can't tell if this has to do with you getting dumped, or with you having to work on a German car.

As a distraction, and to get your mind off more troubling topics....

What do you think the chances of Suzuki using V-Strom 1000’s engine and spar frame, to create a new SV1000S/TL1000S?

Could be worse. YOU could’ve dumped your bike too.

I always say:

No matter how bad it is remember, it can't get any worse.

Then when it gets worse, remember, it can’t get any worse.

none, sadly. they havent updated the 650 in almost a decade (and i heard they are about to stop production anyways) so....

That is unfortunate, especially for such a well received bike.

I don’t know why V-twin sport-standards are such an afterthought... Honda did absolutely nothing with the Hawk GT and Superhawk. VTR-1000, even before Suzuki TL/SV’s heyday, and Ducati Monster’s prime time, also.

I know BMW F-series, and Yamaha’s new FZ series are really on board with parallel twins, as well as Yamaha and Triumph’s inline triples, as well as kawasaki being in there with an option or two also, and I can somewhat see the advantages of packaging... but still.

I guess I’ll just have to add an SV/TL custom, from the guts of a new 2014+ VStrom 1000 to my mental garage of modified bikes. It would be so relatively easy for Suzuki to do, though, especially if they made it look half as cool as the Stratosphere or Recursion concept bikes.

I guess Suzuki is going to a unified cylinder block engine, also, if they do build the Parallel-twin Turbocharged Recursion as a production bike... and they probably will fit it into the hole left by SV650 and to a lesser extent, Gladius.

rule #1 about SV650 guys. we dont talk about the gladius. That is a bastard child that they made even softer (both in engine and suspension) when they should have made it harder.

Ah, ‘the bike which shall not be named, mentioned, or acknowledged.’

Understood.

But, since I am not an SV650 guy, strictly speaking... it is unfortunate that they softened it so much, but I kinda think it has some aftermarket potential, with a complete front and rear suspension swap (And maybe a re-tune and exhaust upgrade, to address the engine), and a cool paint job, rather a “friendly” stock paint scheme. Being unloved, just means lower resale on a donor to start with.

Kinja'd!!!

The steel trellis frame, and the more curvaceous bodywork gives it a bit more of a Ducati-esque aesthetic... (as does the first-gen tubular-look SV and TLS aluminum frames) I imagine it would look great with a Monster S4R/S2R steel trellis single-sided swingarm, and a Brembo 3-spoke wheel, along with a matching GSX-R front end swap with a 3-hollow-spoke wheel. Some sort of front half-fairing like the Recursion concept bike, or some sort of custom fairing like a mix of Ducati 900SS-CR and the original Suzuki Katana, would be great finishing touch.

Problem is the gsxr stuff doesnt drop in the thing as well as they did in the sv. You need more fab work, and suddenly that bike is 15k of project. Which.is simply isnt worth

That is unfortunate to hear. What did they change? the headstock, or something, that it doesn’t accept steering head bearings and triple clamps from other bikes?

head stock, and the length of the forks is kind of a funny one too.
